THE FUTURE STARTS NOW

The theme for Nelson Central School for 2007 is 'The Future Starts now'. The children in Room 13 thought about what this statement means. We decided that we need to think about what we can do NOW to ensure our world is still a wonderful place to live in the FUTURE. Have a look at the COMMENTS to read our ideas and make sure you tell us what 'The Future Starts Now' means to you. We will come back and look at this later in the year after we have learned more about this topic.

I think this means don’t kill plants otherwise bugs will die. If the bugs die there will be none left. This will be sad.

I think this means we should not kill plants because they are God’s creatures. Animals would die. Will animals die? I hope not.

I think this means that you should not kill animals or cut down trees because birds might die. There will not be as many creatures as today.

I think this means that no countries in the world have guns and no wars and no killing anything. The future can be soon, 1 year, 10 years, 100 years, even 1000 years. I don’t think anybody should just chuck rubbish in the garden or anywhere because if you don’t look after the planet, one day there might not be any planet left and everything will be extinct, even people.

I think this means keep the world healthy. Do not kill butterflies or they are soon going to be extinct. No guns in any countries, no killing anybody and help people. Do not kill plants, butterflies may be laying eggs.

I think this means we have to think about what’s going to happen in 100 years. Look after our planet now because if we don’t the world won’t be as good as it is now. People wouldn’t want to see our world.

I think this means we have to help endangered animals before they die. We have to respect other animals. We have to do it soon. We have to stop killing plants because insects might feed on those plants. Think before you throw rubbish in the rubbish bin, it might be useful.

I think this means we have got to not kill birds and animals. There will be no more animals left and we will have no eggs.

We need to look after the world otherwise the flowers would die. Guns need to be banned because they hurt people.

I think this means don’t chop down trees otherwise birds can’t build their nests in the tree. We wouldn’t get any oxygen to breathe and we would all die.
